Not only does he explain in terms of casual conversation, but also dives into the scientific intricacies of the flashlight’s lumen output. With Mike’s spirited humor, watching this review feels like a chat with a knowledgeable friend who’s really excited about his new flashlight.

Modern Self Defense: Flashlight Tactics and the Olight Warrior 3S

Self-defense isn’t just about mastering martial arts or owning a personal weapon. Sometimes, it’s about using ordinary items like a flashlight in extraordinary ways. One noteworthy piece of everyday carry is the Olight Warrior 3S, the newest flashlight model presented by the YouTube channel Hard2Hurt, managed by Icy Mike. Through this comprehensive and engaging review, Mike shares important considerations for anyone interested in a device that isn’t just for illumination but also for protection. Mike initially highlights the difference between ordinary flashlights and what he calls a “proper fighting flashlight”. The Olight Warrior 3S fits into the latter category, boasting a range of features tailored to defensive uses. While its utility in a fight might seem unusual, Mike reminds us that flashlights are commonly employed by police and security personnel for self-defense. In comparing the older version with the current model, Mike notes that the Olight Warrior 3S isn’t entirely different in size or dimensions. However, what truly sets it apart are its upgraded features – most notably, its proximity sensor and strike bezel. The proximity sensor is a practical feature preventing potential damage by dimming the light when an object is too close, thereby preventing accidents like burning holes in pockets. On the other hand, the strike bezel is less crenellated, dismissing the myth that ‘tactical’ flashlights must bear jagged teeth to be effective. As Mike explains, the bezel’s design is more practical since it avoids unnecessary snagging on clothing or pouches. Its purpose is fundamentally defensive and pragmatically crafted for ease of carry. Another feature Mike commends is the flashlight’s extraordinary brightness. With a luminosity of 2300 lumens, the Olight Warrior 3S can temporarily blind a potential assailant, even in broad daylight. Convenience is also considered, with a battery level indicator and magnetic charging system included for user-friendly operation. The flashlight hosts two buttons for different forms of light emission. One emits low light for casual purposes like inspection, while the other provides high power illumination fit for tactical scenarios. Despite all its best-in-class attributes, the major drawback of the Olight Warrior 3S lies in its price tag. As Mike acknowledges, quality flashlights intended for work or self-defense uses tend to come with a higher cost. However, he mentions that with current promotional deals, acquiring this device could be less daunting for your wallet. On a lighter note, Mike shows his personal preference for the color gray, stating that it fits perfectly with his preferred tactical gear colors. He jokingly suggests that Olight should brand it as ‘hard2hurt gray’. In conclusion, the Olight Warrior 3S undeniably provides an inventive blend of simple illumination and self-defense, all compacted in one handheld device. It notably amplifies the modern approach to personal protection by proving that everyday items can be imbued with lifesaving potential. Through the lens of Icy Mike’s expertise, this flashlight shines not just by its lumens but also by its versatility and tactical relevance. Whether you’re an everyday Joe looking for a reliable torch or a seasoned professional desiring efficient tools, the Olight Warrior 3S just might be the flashlight you didn’t know you needed. And remember, practical self-defense isn’t about flashy moves or dramatic showdowns. Sometimes, effective self-defense can be as simple as illuminating a dark alley with a tactical flashlight. Stay safe out there!

  1. I must say .. OLight does a great job with the BOXES they shipped these torches 🤭

All jokes aside, if you want a real torch. Fenix all day!! Even Nitecore is another great option.

    TK20 V2 #1 best tactical torch

    TK16 V2 #2 best tactical torch

PD40R V2 (gift these to all woman in my life. The easiest torch to operate)

    P20i – #3 best tactical torch

I started with streamlight then moved on to Olight. Dropped Olight because I discovered Nitecore. Dropped Nitecore (besides P20i & MH25S) for a real torch, FENIX

I get they send you free stuff but your audience deserves high quality flash 🔦. Everybody needs a FENIX at there home. If you love your life, get a Fenix torch ✌🏽

  2. Hi can you make a video where you blind yourself with several (like 10-12) flashlight in turbo mode?
Would be interesting from a tactical point of view.
    Thanks.

  3. My drone will carry about 14 oz max weight. Do you think this would be a good light and light enough in weight to strap on it and use as a drone spotlight?

  4. Flashlight are good self-defense weapons. When I tried to rob a house back in the day the home owner blinded me first with a bright light and then shot me in the head with a 9mm. I never seen it coming.

  5. I'm eager to see what Olight does to one-up the W3s. Maybe up the lumens just a little in L, M and H….the "useable" lumens. If not …just the L and M modes….16 and 200 while still "useable" and "enough" is kind of low compared to the competition. Perhaps they could up the L-mode to 30 lumens …add a "low-MED mode" of 150 then a 2nd MED-mode of 340…then keep the H-mode to 1200 or up it to 1400 (thruniite's BSS has a H-mode of a hair over 1400).

there is such thign is "too much lumens"…which I thik is whe Turbo modes exceed 2400…3000 is "too much" in most real world uses….eDC or i "self-defense" (if any civilian is planning to use a light for defensive us….they better have a plan of what to follow the burst of turbo or Strobe with….I think most have no idea. Have no plan. Actually think they're going to be in a "one on one" when it goes down (usually they attack in groups)…

Olight just announced their Baton 3 Pro Max….maybe we'll see a W3s Max announced in a week or two…and a "Seeker 3 Pro Masx" :)) Like to see Olight make the "Wes Max" longer e.g. approaching 6" to fit in the hand better using an under-hand grip….so the tail exends past our hand edge…

  6. I have 7 maybe more olights and as a electrician and a general contractor, I use them religiously. They’ve never failed on me and I’ve used hundreds of different flashlights including all the top name and I always go back to this one. They’re great flashlights, super bright and if you need something brighter than what they offer you’re crazy. Most importantly they’re reliable. I have drop them like all my DeWalt tools or my rigid tools and they hold up. There’s very few brands that I go through like them but I literally have everything from EDC to the most bright stuff they have, and I use it all all the time. But I will say I got one kind of just for myself lol the copper version of the warrior3s it weighs almost twice as much but I still love it❤❤❤❤❤😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🎉🎉🎉🎉

  7. That lil detachable magnetic light is for incase you need to walk some distance at night, to the bathroom in the dark; it can be very useful , for some. 🔦

  8. The mag chargers for olight sucks I hope they go to something kinda like how PowerTac has we’re it’s a magnet charge(that actually works)

But if it for some reason doesn’t work, there’s more options to charge the multihundred flashlight you’re forking out the money for
