Transforming Your Home into a Realistic Training Ground with Modern Self-Defence Tools
In the age of modern self-defense, the traditional modes of live fire range practice may seem somewhat antiquated, particularly when it comes to home defense. As the YouTube channel Hard2Hurt run by Icy Mike breaks down in his video “Train With Your Rifle In Your Home: Mantis Blackbeard and X10 Elite,” there are innovative solutions to make at-home self-defence training more realistic and engaging. The foundations of realistic self defence are realistic practice and repetition. Practicing with an AR-15 or any rifle can be inconvenient and expensive. You can’t take live fire rounds and start practicing at home. Granted, dry fire practice somewhat fills this gap, but due to many limitations, it cannot entirely replace the live fire practice. This is where the game changes with the Mantis Blackbeard and the Mantis X10 Elite. The Mantis Blackbeard is a unique tool that replaces your rifle’s magazine and bolt carrier group. Once installed, it dramatically transforms your dry fire practice by resetting the trigger without any movement or reciprocation, thus doing away with the need for any faux, unrealistic maneuvers during practice. So, while it doesn’t simulate recoil, it does create a more realistic experience of shooting, allowing you to practice executing real skills like ready-ups at home. Next up is the Mantis X10 Elite, a superb shooting performance system. This unique device, attachable to any object, measures muzzle control and trigger pull, giving you intricate details about your shooting proficiency. Be it dry fire, live fire, or even training with airsoft guns, this tech-advanced tool is game to all. The pairing of the Mantis Blackbeard with the Mantis X10 Elite opens up a whole new dimension of training. With these devices, you can run through realistic shooting scenarios in the comfort of your home. They facilitate the practice of very specific actions and motor skills, thus honing your rifle handling abilities. You can even test out different hold overs and hold unders and pinpoint areas for improvement. The versatility of these devices extends beyond just training with rifles. The Mantis X10 Elite, for example, can be attached to a pistol for dry fire practice or live fire practice, all while providing real-time feedback on your performance. These devices also outpace traditional airsoft training guns. With the Mantis Blackbeard and Mantis X10 Elite, you can train with your own weapons, sights, and triggers, thus improving your familiarity and efficiency with your personal defense equipment. To sum up, in the age of modern self-defense, the combination of traditional dry fire practice, supported by high-tech training systems like the Mantis Blackbeard and the Mantis X10 Elite, can optimize your home defense practice. By allowing you to simulate real-world scenarios at home, these tools not only make training more convenient and thorough but also greatly contribute to realistic self-defence. For those looking for an effective yet manageable way to improve their self-defense skills, these devices make an excellent addition to any training arsenal. Remember, consistent practice with focused intent is what makes you hard to hurt.Blablabla

The best drill ever, shot em in the dick.
I train at home with a Crossman 1077 .177 pellet rifle and some hand pellet pistols. It's easier than driving to the range 20 minutes away and paying $23 to shoot with one target. My primary self defense weapon is a Ruger 10/22 with CCI Stingers.
Mike, could you do a video on push dagger knives and why they are bullshit?
This mantis device should work excellent with live fire practice
I wish you would dare sensei Seth to train with the bujinkan for a few weeks and maby go to a seminar with there 90 year old grand master while he's still alive. That would be an episode I really want to see but he might only do it if he got dared by you. If. You called him out you tube maby and see if he backs down
That app and how it works is pretty sweet actually
You’re way more knowledgeable than me on many self defense type stuff but as a fairly decent competitive shooter I would suggest you moving your stock back 1 to 2 clicks on what appears to be a DD AR. And getting your support hand a bit further forward and pulling the weapon into your shoulder a bit.
Yep, that looks good!
Have u done one with your pistol handgun as well like that one as well
what grip is that may i ask O_O???
..,"A steady supply of ninjas and terrorists.." that was funny! Thanks for the video
Love this!
Does it activate the cool fire targets? They’re laser activated too.
Bro you were SWAT? That makes your channel way cooler.
Ha! I just started doing this to after running into their products like a week or 2 ago. I'm hoping they come out with a mag similar for a Glock. Saw someone else use a dryfire mag together with the X10.
Love mine, I use the Mantis X3 and train daily every morning between cardio and lifting at home, treat shooting as my martial art, and probably saved a fortune 30,000 dry and real shots year to date. Would highly recommend the pistol version.
I’m from the uk and recently tried airsoft and absolutely loved it, I know it’s got nothing to do with self defence or real gun handling but would love to see you and Seth do a video on it
I think this is a great product! I don’t think it and airsoft have to be an either or situation though. Airsoft gives you exercise, allows you to move with a weapon, against other people moving with their weapons, who are actively trying to shoot you. It’s such a good training tool that simply isn’t replicable for civilians with any regularity outside of prohibitively expensive training courses using simunition.
I think doing both this dryfire set up you showed AND airsoft gives a good blend of experiences to build overall skills.
I have a Radian 1 GBBR that I've used for airsoft for about 3… 4 years? Airsoft is actually great for training but once again it's one of those things where… Whats your mentality behind it. I do airsoft because well, I run in full kit. My ballistic helmet, avs with plates, my war belt, everything… So it's great exercise. I had my radian 1 set up exactly like my rifle. I moved my optic over (Zeroing isn't a big deal for me), I have the same bipod, light, pressure pads, grips, sling, etc. So, it works out quite well. But more importantly it's good to USE your kit. So many people buy shit and try it once but don't actually use it. Airsoft is a great way to use your kit and figure out what works for you, what you need to change. When I first got my AVS, I set it up similar to how I had my JPC set up. But that didn't work out for me because of the harness and it was causing some pressure and discomfort. Sure. Be a man. But it's extremely important (If you care about this shit) to optimize your gear, to make sure that what you have set up actually works and is actually useful and airsoft is AMAZING for that.
Also it's about tactics and practicing shooting other people. Generally if you're doing force on force, a lot of times it's smaller shoot houses, cqb, but it's a completely different thing when you're out in the woods. In real buildings, working around actual cover and so on. Running around working on light and noise discipline, trying to not eat shit (I fell and completely destroyed the rail and my bipod one time and sheared off one of the lugs – accutac said they hadn't see anything like that since their military trials LOL), working with a team, communication, maps and so on. Sure, you can do some of that with force on force, but it's a lot different if you're doing airsoft outdoors… In a field, in the woods, etc. Or if you go to milsim west it's also an amazing wealth of knowledge. It really is just great for experience and skills.
I used my glock 17 airsoft pistol when covid came around with the X10 elite, because it was cheap. I got literally TENS OF THOUSANDS of bb's and like 12 cans of green gas for around $200? Something around there. And sure, it's not my 19x. Sure, the springs aren't as strong blah blah blah. That doesn't matter. Working on your trigger press, your grip, etc is OBJECTIVELY far more important than recoil. Everyone always talks about recoil, and the vast majority of those people can't shoot for shit. Having good trigger presses and a solid grip is FAR more important than recoil, recoil is very easy to learn and get used to. If you keep fucking limp wristing or your grip is shit in general, or you keep jerking the trigger and what not… It doesn't matter wether it's live fire or not. You're still gonna suck at shooting because you wont hit shit – not because of recoil. Because of your shit mechanics. Period.
X10 elite helped me tremendously and it's a cost savings thing. Sure, it's like $250 but how much ammo will you spend to get the same amount of training? I guarantee it'll be more than $250 worth and you can KEEP USING THIS. Over and over. I've had mine for almost 3 years now and I still use it to this day. I also grabbed the laser training academy and the blackbeard a few months ago. I've been using all 3 for both my 19x and rifle, seriously 10/10 would actually reccomend. The laser academy is kind of on the less important. I would say if you have a pistol 100% get the X10 Elite, if you have a rifle 100% get the blackbeard ESPECIALLY if you have the X10, or also a pistol you also want to train with. Both the X10 and Blackbeard are an amazing combo.
Lastly, I'd say pick up the laser training academy. But it's definitely the least important in their lineup.
I saw this when it came out. The only YouTube thing I ever bought before was from ozzy man reviews. However I just got the black beard and the mantis x2. Because of your video. Super happy with it. And I let them know the purchase was because of your channel.
I see you flexing that Danny Frosty-Michael
Dude, that's a thing I could actually use, cause I agree the gymnastics you have to do to get good ish reps with safety manipulation is annoying. I may actually buy this thing. If I do, I'll use your link. Thanks for sharing that!
Where's your beard? We miss your badass beard😁🤟
There’s a new version coming out October 5, it imitates a 30 round magazine and has an integrated MantisX sensor for about $300. Might be worth the wait if you haven’t gotten anything yet. Recommend getting one of those browser extensions that tries a bunch of coupon codes
9 months later. Everyone with the Blackbeard is still happy with it?
I’m thinking about getting it. Just looking for updated real life user feedback.
Thx
I hope this is not a dumb question but does it work on a gbbr airsoft ? In my country i cannot have a ar-15 :'c
Good stuff and smart choice
