Modern Self-Defence: A Detailed Review of the Atomic Bear Stealth Tactical Pen
Self-defence has taken a new stride with the advent of innovative gadgets that seamlessly combine daily tools with means of personal security. An incredible example of such a device is the Atomic Bear Stealth Tactical Pen. Recognized as the ultimate self-defence pen by Icy Mike, a renowned martial arts expert who runs the YouTube channel Hard2Hurt, this pen brings a twist to self-defence means. Let’s dig into its features as described by Icy Mike. The Atomic Bear Stealth Tactical Pen primarily diverts from the conventional perception of tactical pens — embedding functionality in what looks like an ordinary item. Typically, tactical pens either appear overtly weapon-like, thus devoiding them of the discretion necessary for a tactical tool, or they are decent pens that don’t pack enough punch to function as effective self-defence weapons. However, the Stealth Tactical Pen bridges this gap, embracing the importance of keeping the tool’s primary use intact. The pen boasts a satisfying bolt action feature for scribbling notes, thus making it a genuine writing tool. However, what sets it apart from other tactical pens is the carefully thought-out design and material choices. For instance, it has a polymer body which is lightweight yet strong enough to withstand an attack. The pen is also aluminum at strategic spots, has a steel clip for durability, and sports a tungsten tip at its end — ideal for breaking glass in emergencies or causing significant discomfort if pressed against an assailant. Furthermore, the pen introduces several novel features that enhance its usability as a gadget for self-defence. The knurling on its body provides a secure grip, and the tapered waistline allows your pinky to rest comfortably, thereby eliminating the awkwardness of holding a bulky weapon. Another intriguing element is the small teeth around the tungsten tip, incorporated to scratch and collect an assailant’s DNA — although, as Icy Mike points out, this feature hasn’t necessarily been a consequential factor in real-world self-defence situations. The visually understated design of the pen, while not compromising on functionality, allows for inconspicuous carriage. This makes it an ideal tool for environments where traditional weapons aren’t permitted. It’s not just about creating a “Jason Bourne” or “John Wick” scenario in real life; it’s about leveraging the tools at your disposal to ensure safety. Yet The Atomic Bear’s approach to this tactical pen is what truly stands out. They identified common issues with similar products and addressed them methodically, resulting in a device that is both effective in a conflict and practical for everyday carry. From the robust steel clip and convenient rubber cap that covers the tungsten tip, to the bolt action function for smooth writing, all of it is designed to make the pen useful at all times, no matter the situation. To sum it up, the Atomic Bear Stealth Tactical Pen is a serious piece of hardware camouflaged as a simple writing instrument, adding another layer of security to your daily life. It doesn’t just look good — it’s designed to help you stand your ground when it matters the most. However, as with any self-defence tool, it’s only as useful as the skills of the person wielding it, so ensure you undergo proper training on how to utilize such tools in a defensive situation.Blablabla

AGAIN THE QUESTION REMAINS. CAN IT PASS THRU AIRPORT SECURITY? NOT ONLY FOR THE TSA. I MEAN INTERNATIONALLY.
I like how its a one piece barrel, has descent girth and it light weight. Shape reminds me of the CRKT tac pen. What are your thought son the Tuff Writer Precision Press or the Tuff Writer mini-Click. Its very discreet. It looks like a Parker Jotter, which I love. Tuff Writers are not cheap, but are precision made in the USA.
What’s wrong with normal pens?
Please demonstrate using the tungsten glass breaker, how do you use it the best since you cannot press your thumb on the teeth for maximum power?
Hey can you do a video on the monkey fist? There aren't any videos actually analysing it and I feel like I'd be funny to watch you guys what each other with tennis balls on a string
If u ever try to use real pen or pencil in school, u would hired a bodyguard for professional protection.
Well, for a defensive weapon maybe it's good, but when I saw you flick that cap off, that's one part that will very probably go missing quickly. Let's say that end would only be for an emergency to break glass, ok, make a video smashing a laminated car windscreen with the pen, now that would be fun to watch. I think this thing sucks by design in the real world, but then you are making a profit on it, so yeah, must be good.
I've carried a tactical pen on duty my whole time on duty science the beginning, and throw away pens for the public to use
Bolt action vs Push click pen? Pros and cons?
Lol everytime I see those ink refills i always think they're like icepicks that would stick out like otf knives.
Hey liked your review spot on great job
I dunno man, my tactical pen does everything yours does & then it can also fire .22lr rounds & flares or CS powder 🤷♂️
Please find a tactical mechanical pencil
The best tactical pens contain HMX or composition 3, a quick fuse and infighter and squib blasting cap, or a one shot 22 Hornet round
I would like to learn to use mine.
Will the rubber end cap hold up with your thumb over that tungsten tip? Want to maximize force
Mike, Do those teeth t the writing end make it awkward to keep this pen in your pants or shirt pocket? I.e., might they rip the pocket or poke you uncomfortably?
Crap vid.
I've been using Atomic Bear's catchphrasey "tactical survival" folding knife for about 4 years now and it's still holding up great. Not the most sharp knife on the planet, but it cuts well, holds an edge, and is durable while being light enough for every day carry. Generally they seem to make some nice products.
Mightier than the sword?
The pen has one huge disadvantage, which is an ultimate show stopper: It cannot be bought anywhere here in Germany. Sold out everywhere. So I will have to buy the competition product nitecore ntp 31 instead.
2:25 "It writes g…" <Realizes what he just started to say, thinks to himself, "Fuck… It writes gooder than I talk", but then decides, hell with it, I'm not starting this video over again, shakes it off and continues…> "It writes good."
If you're going into a space that has detectors that trip on things like a Leatherman, but not on keys or cellphones, would this pass?
Asking for a friend.
After watching Mike's video about stopping a car jacking I started a search for a tactical pen for my wife's car. It had to have a screw on cap with a glass breaker tip at the other end, not a pen. Why? Because my plan is to hang it from the mirror on a break-away wire running thru the clip on the cap. If she needs to break the window she can reach up, grab the pen, pull it free and hit the glass in one motion. Same for a car jacking. It's always right there in easy reach. Took a while, but I did find a pen that fills the bill. Be here on Monday in time for Mothers' Day! After watching this I'm thinking she should have one on her person, too.
The silicone cap is junk. You lose it all the time. This pen is far from ideal.
My problem with tactical pens is I lose pens all the time and then there goes $50 down the drain
I have one but not really interested in training with it. If it gets to the point where I'm putting hands on you, you are going out. The goal is get them belly down and they are either getting RNC'd or 12-6 elbows to the occipital bun until I can safely escape.
The jagged tip is for scratching or dig into the flesh, instead of one that would just slip off the medium!! Run it over your forearm and you'll feel the difference..👍💥OUCHY!!
you win money to try to explain is the best tactical pen but in fact is the same pen than another one !
One word of advice, If it has big white lettering down the side that says "TACTICAL PEN," skip it.
No. I want the heavy one. Adds to the punching power.
If you're not familiar with marshal arts, you're going to need as much power behind that first punch. And you always want to punch first, second, third,…… until you're sure you're safe.
Tape up a roll of pinnies. Nothing fancy. In a pocket where it's easy to get to.
Can you do best self defense chopsticks?
Make it without the stupid barbs in the front and I will buy it. I wont be putting barbs in my pocket.
If you shove those teeth about 3 inches deep in the ear canal fights over or in someone's eye
I just picked up the Atomic Bear “Rebel”. Very satisfied! I agree, Atomic Bear pens are very under the radar-looking. Like, if I’m relying on a pen as a self defense tool, I’m probably somewhere that is non-permissive. I wouldn’t want anything that’s obviously “tactical”.
Also, Atomic Bear stuff is really well built but reasonably priced.
The point of that pen looks like a hollow point 45 ammo
