Let’s dive deeper into this lesson of practical safety.

In this short clip, we can see a woman being approached by a potentially hostile individual and reacting in an excellent way.

Modern Self-Defence: Trusting your Instincts

In the martial arts world, channel ‘Hard2Hurt’ is a respected name. Their pragmatic approach to self-defence endorses reality-based combat tactics that can be life-changing and possibly, life-saving. Recently, they shared an enlightening video clip that underlines the essence of modern self-defence. ‘NOT a Karen… her reaction was perfect.’ In this moving video clip, we see a woman standing near her shopping cart when a character of dubious intent approaches her, clearly encroaching on her personal space. However, the woman trusts her instincts and reacts flawlessly. Let’s walk through what makes this woman’s reaction a textbook case of modern self-defence. Trusting Your Gut According to Hard2Hurt, the woman’s instincts directly contributed to her successful handling of this unsettling situation. Our instincts, or gut feelings, are primal defense mechanisms meant to protect us from potential threats. They are shaped by millions of years of evolution but are often neglected in our modern, logically driven society. Distance Is Your Friend In self-defense terms, distance equals safety. The woman in the video is quick to maintain a safe distance from her potential assailant. She moves away but does not turn her back to him. That not only deters the intruder but also gives her time to strategize and decide on her next move. Avoidance Over Confrontation While traditional martial arts often glorify the confrontational aspects of fighting, modern self-defence emphasizes avoidance. As seen in the video, the woman chooses to disengage rather than engage. Her ultimate goal is not to fight and win, but to ensure her safety. Verbal De-escalation In addition to physical strategies, verbal defense can also diffuse tense situations. In the video, the woman calls out the interrupter’s inappropriate behavior, a bold move that underscores her strength and awareness. Her assertive, confident expression likely made the critical difference. In conclusion, self-defense is more than just the ability to fight. It’s about maintaining personal safety by trusting instincts, maintaining a safe distance, prioritizing avoidance over confrontation, and making skillful use of verbal de-escalation. Being aware and vigilant, guided by wisdom and intuition, is the best approach to modern self-defense. Even though the situation might be different for each individual, the principles remain steadfast. This woman’s response, cheersed on by Hard2Hurt, is the proof we all need to trust and build on our instincts. Remember, in the world of self-defence, your instincts are your strongest weapon.

  1. "Karen" is an anti European , Female slur . The original "Karen" video was a black man harassing a lone white woman in Central Park .
The "Karen" meme is a way to make lone white women to afraid to call for help so they end up victims .

  2. He didn't grab her multiple times this was the first interaction they had not to mention he didn't touch her she touched the cart and her reaction was that is insane you don't need to scream as if he's trying to sexually assault you

  3. Pranks should be treated as an assault. It is literally stressing somebody out for financial gain. It doesn't matter that it is a "joke".. causing somebody to be scared for no reason is not really that different from slapping somebody.. you can potentially trigger a micro heart attack as well.

  4. There should be a law to protect civilians against exploitation by pranksters… Or at least give us the powers to react normally without threat of prosecution 🎉

  5. "just a prank bro" ok, remember that when that chicks husband comes around the corner and then beats the absolute shit out of you
