With authentic scenarios and practical applications, the video demonstrates the way these tools can be used for training and self-defence situations. Simplified and transparent, it offers a comprehensive understanding about the crucial factors of force-on-force training, managing to effortlessly marry the scientific and casual language to resonate with an array of viewers.

Modern Self Defence: A Closer Look into Hard2Hurt’s Force on Force Training

In a recent video by YouTuber and martial arts enthusiast Icy Mike – the man behind the Hard2Hurt YouTube channel, viewers get a realistic view of what modern self-defence looks like. This video, “Force on Force Training, Pepper Balls and Rubber Impact Rounds” unveils engaging self-defence techniques and tools. The training weapons used throughout the video are the Scorpion and Hornet models from Lancer Tactical. These devices launch pepper balls or paintballs, diversifying their application from mere game paraphernalia to potential self-defence tools. The concept of force on force training takes center stage in the video. This practically-coded method introduces a real-life approach to training, encouraging trainees to think on their feet and adapt swiftly to various situations. It incorporates real objects like cars and practical weapons like rubber and pepper rounds, painting an accurate picture of what it’s like to be in an actual self-defence scenario. Moreover, Seth, a martial arts enthusiast, demonstrates impeccable decision-making abilities during a simulated self-defence scenario. The self-defence simulation involved a blend of martial arts and strategic thinking. While his mechanics aroused critique, his decision-making skills, critical in actual self-defence situations, were highly commended. Using cover strategically in a self-defence environment is essential in manoeuvring and gaining an upper hand over the opponent. Seth showcases the use of car cover effectively, manipulating it to shield himself as he strategically maneuvers the surroundings. He executes creative tactics like quick pop-ups for effective defence. Making use of weapons, such as the pepper balls and rubber impact rounds diversifies defence tactics. Interestingly, the video highlights that rubber impact rounds can discourage a hesitant attacker. The discomfort caused by these rounds, combined with the surprise element, might change the tide of a confrontation in your favor. In contrast, pepper balls introduce an indirect form of attack. These tiny irritants, which cause a potent burn and irritating cough when inhaled, can deter an attacker, providing the defender a chance to escape. Icy Mike demonstrates this by firing at a wall and allowing the particles to disperse in the surrounding air, testing the effects on his willing volunteers. One notable aspect of modern self-defence training is its closeness to reality. The video underscores this through the use of real-life tools like cars, coupled with relatable training scenarios. The clear lesson here is that preparing for self-defence goes beyond mastering martial arts techniques. It demands an understanding of the surrounding environments, potential threats, and applying a strategic approach to leverage whatever tools are at your disposal. Ultimately, this video blends an in-depth understanding of martial arts and modern self-defence tactics. From force-on-force training to leveraging common items for defence, it demonstrates how current self-defence encompasses more than just physical combat; it involves a deep understanding of your environment, quick decision-making skills, and an ability to use everyday items defensively. It’s a fascinating watch for anyone interested in a well-rounded understanding of self-defence. Remember, these techniques and tools are to be used responsibly with proper training under a professional’s guidance. Stay safe, stay alert, and always remain hard to hurt.

  1. honestly dont know why americans thing guns are always the answer. surprisingly, not everyone is american so we dont have guns, in scotland and other countries wepons in general are illegal. you can have a manual folding knife under 3 inches but that is it. i keep one in my wheelchair bag as i open a lot of stuff and knowing i have it there does help me feel safer as i am too weak to really fight back and people in wheelchairs get attacked but you cant exactly get that out quickly when under attack. you should get creative and fnd techniques that everyone can use that dont involve stupid guns

  2. i dont think this is a affective way to fight with a gun

As a marine u never stop shooting even if ur getting shot at there never gonna just stop shooting while ur in cover its called a suppressive fire when ur enemy is shooting u

    U shoot back

Dont just srand there and wait thats no the way to go

I shot talibans in buildings they dont stop shooting even if they dont see u not all gun fights are ment to be a point and fire 90% of gun fights are a suppressive fire not a shoot to hit

its more effective then just peek a corner or just standing there waiting for ur enemie to peek

Even if u peek a room they shoot at u and u close the door and shoot through the wall where u first saw ur enemy
thats how a real gun fight would work they don't stop shooting
Just because they dont see nothing

  3. Thank you for teaching techniques that can save your life. Do you have any plans of doing a similar scenario where you are the defender. Seeing the techniques performed from someone with more experience could add another layer for people to study.

  4. 100% correct! If you train to stop every time you get hit, then you're training to lose. If you train to keep going, then, if at all possible, you will keep going.

  5. I love the clarity and the common sense of what you demonstrate.
You are 100% correct, too many people think like movie stars instead of using cover and weapons properly.
You have to stay safe, yes. You have to be sure what you're aiming at, yes.
But if you telegraph your position against a prepared individual, you are dead.
Speed is not that important if you do the first shot properly.
Finally, it's 99% in your mind, 1% actions. The action is fairly simple, but if your mind is not focussed you will miss.

  6. Excellent content and the reality of the shots and the effects of the pepper-ball powder. Happy to know it really would cause attached to re-evaluate their initial thoughts of attack and turn to retreat.😅

  7. Would love to see this scenario run through for having a multiple people in the car but only one gun, such as having family. Draw fire away? Risk family and still use car as cover? What do the people in car do?

  8. what's the difference between the brands of guns your using to the byrna models? can the ones your using be used same ways, used in all states, no issues carrying over state lines, and trying to compare. same power or better? thanks

  9. what's the difference between the brands of guns your using to the byrna models? can the ones your using be used same ways, used in all states, no issues carrying over state lines, and trying to compare. same power or better? thanks

  10. i guess dude didn't hear mag drop, that would have been the time to rush. second, why didn't he go for concealment behind bushes? there are no rules in fighting, so no reason to follow any when going all out training.

  11. now get cracked out on meth and take the hits, won't feel them at all. only thing that may deter would be pepper/oc multiple shots

  12. what about the poor bloke on the other side of the hedge just trying to enjoy the evening on the deck with his bbq and this cloud of gas floats over?

  13. Sooooo…if your wife was going hiking on her own what one or two items for protection would you ask her to take?
I just found you guys today 💞 and I’ve been watching a few of your YouTube’s but the main thing that you offered me is that you give me more confidence in which items would help me in self-defense.
It is hard not to laugh when you guys are laughing at eachother.. You definitely go over and beyond to show us how to protect ourselves and how they work..
    A huge thank you

  14. I've watched several of your videos. you've used a wide array of pepperBall guns and ammo. Can you tell us what ammo you prefer for accuracy and which ammo for most horrific reaction (pepperball / tear gas) rounds. There are so many out there and some of those pepperball rounds don't seem to cause any reaction other than a few coughs.

  15. 😮 I got shot dead on a testicle in paintball once from more than twice that range. My nuts turned purple, swelled up like mangos, spent a day with frozen peas against em and could barely walk for 3 days. Horrific.

  16. 🤣🤣.. SERIOUSLY..this prats channel is called hard2hurt….🙄🙄. WHAT A F ING BELL END…🙉🙊🙈🥳🥳😂😂

  17. I practiced catching blowback pistol in short range. As well as my friend karate champion was surprised as well as police man asking me how did you know catch it like this? It was once in 2008 and not very far from now. Last toy tool we use was glock plastique ball spring engined toy. I use my left hand when attacker carry it in his right. It gives me opportunity to do two moves either swing the hand one or a other side. Main goal is to give a shot with lock blowback which should jam the pistol another action if attacker is smaller we can try swing his arm and release pistol.
As I would act those two scenarios will make sense in 10-20% of situations. It is not real amount of situations it may just picture how do I think any of those applies might be used.
As many other defense against, best eay is to try to survive alive which means run hide run hide, be safe.
